Holiday Highlights: A Piano Recital

The absolute highlight of our week was a piano recital by homeschool graduate Wei Sim, who currently studies at Columbia University.  Well over a hundred people gathered to enjoy the hour and a half program that included Beethoven, Bach, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, and more.  Wei, who hopes ‘to continue to use his gifts to glorify God’ was certainly able to do so last night.  In fact, both the music played to God’s honor and the multicultural audience made me think of what heaven may be like.

I’ve found an old picture of Wei from the Columbia Classical Performers for you; last night, however, he performed in a church, with stained glass windows behind him.

The evening made me realize that Christian homeschool graduates everywhere are venturing forth into the world, ready to serve God with their varied talents.  I pray that they may all be faithful their different callings and be like salt and light in this needy world.

Other highlights this week included sleepovers, surviving a mild virus that made us feel headachy, sleepy, and very foggy, and visiting thrift shop where we bought, for a song, a very expensive judo gi for Miss 10 to wear this fall.

It is so wonderful to see homeschool graduates getting out there and being such a shining example. I pray that my kids will do the same. Oh, here is the link to my blog so that you can see all the “excitement” going on with me, lol:

I would have loved to attend a recital like that!! It’s fascinating to see all the varied directions all the homeschool grads are heading, and how they are using their talents and gifts.

    Blessings,

  5. What a cool experience! I need to add ‘attend symphony’ to my to do list for this year. My kids would probably hate it, I’d probably cry over the beauty of it 🙂
