Fit Mommy Friday

What a week! I was out every day so far (driver?s ed, doctor, orthodontist).  With all that excitement, I had no oomph left to exercise.  Besides, my winter walking boots are at the bottom of our huge boot box, and I haven?t yet been motivated to dig them out.

On a positive note,  my doctor agreed that I was getting stronger.  He did caution me that I still have very low energy reserves and need to go slow, slow, slow rather than pushing myself to exercise.

So here?s how I did with my fitness goals:

Average at least 6000 steps, five days a week.   I almost managed this, but not quite.  Walking outside without good boots doesn?t work, but it?s so cold that I?m not sure I want to be out there anyhow.  For a few moments, I thought about getting an exercise machine, but we would have no place to put it.  You know, though, there?s nothing wrong with walking in place or even pacing the floors on cold, slippery days.  And, yes, I will dig up those boots today!

Do my physio exercises regularly and build up to the full reps by the end of the year. I did not do this and have no valid excuse.  Sigh.

Avoid sugar except on Sundays and major holidays.  Holiday baking has begun, but I?ve only eaten a few handfuls of peppernuts and two slivers of lemon meringue pie.  I’m pleased with that.

Eat lots of vegetables and yoghurt.  Now that we?ve switched to a different brand of milk, making yoghurt works every time.  We eat a lot of it.  We?ve also been eating many vegetables?but the freezer seems just as full as it did a while ago.

Rest daily.  Being out and about isn?t good for a siesta life-style.  When I came home on my run-around days, I was usually too tired to do the right thing and crawl into bed.  Isn?t that just so silly?  Not being adequately rested made me much less productive and positive and even a bit run-down.

If you want to join the Fit Mommies, just visit Denise at Got Chai?  As you can tell from my posts, you don?t need to be very active or healthy to participate, although some of the Fit Mommies are.

Thanks for the well wishes. I am on the mend. I am taking the day off to rest today, as you wisely pointed out! Have you ever seen a Leslie Sansone DVD? Perhaps your library has them? She is all about walking inside. I have a few and need to get them dusted off for the winter. Maybe a little walking inside would help me build up my immune system. Anyway, I love Leslie’s DVD. Maybe they’d help you too.
    Blessings,
    Jenn

OK, I’ll order one from the library and actually look at it. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

I was thinking about the Leslie Sansone DVD’s too – they are great for walking and she has each one marked at the one mile, 2 mile, etc marks so you can stop if you need to or continue for a longer “walk”.
Hopefully you will have a quieter week this week. Be sure to get that rest!

  3. I have a few of the Leslie Sansone DVD’s and that is all that I have been doing! I love them, they help me to push on through and I was even able to do 5 miles today! I highly recommend them.
