Fit Mommy Friday

Not very fit, not very unfit.  That describes this week quite well.  We went through those ten boxes of Kleenexes quickly and had to resort to toilet paper until I got to the store after Wednesday?s storm.  My family?s poor noses!

Amazingly however, I, the wimp of the family, did not get sick.  I slept a lot, took a lot of vitamins, and smell strongly of garlic, and I?m so grateful God has blessed those things.  I?m afraid of colds.  The last bad one I had (four years ago) wore me out so much that I was almost too exhausted to cough, and it took me all spring to recover.  I still occasionally have pain under my ribs that started during that cold, but all has been scanned and imaged and checked and found to be alright.  So here I am, grateful to be healthy, and eager to get even fitter.

Here?s how I did with my goals this week:

Average at least 6000 steps, five days a week.  I walked a lot, but I don?t know how many steps I took.  The pedometer count seemed low, so every once in a while I?d count a hundred steps to check the pedometer.  It usually would record only about half the steps if I was wearing my favorite jeans.  So I may have met my step goal, but perhaps not. And, of course, I used my new snowshoes.  Those steps count, too.

Do my physio exercises regularly.   Yes, I did them once this week, which is a lot better than before.  I was inspired by Stacy?s post on Staying Motivated to Exercise  and by the fact that I went shopping without any strong companions.  All by myself.  That meant I was the one lugging three heavy bags of puppy food and one even heavier bag of dog food.  I was the one pushing and pulling a very heavy cart through the slushy ice of a parking lot.  I was the one who loaded many pounds of pork shoulders (on sale for 88c/lb) into the van.   I was as delighted by all this as any two-year old picking up her first large pumpkin.   What motivation to  get strong enough to be able to do this all as a matter of course, without crashing on the couch afterwards!

Avoid sugar six days a week.    Nope.  Miss 13?s peanut butter balls, covered in chocolate, are just wonderful.  Currently I have no weight problem.  At this rate, that may soon change?.

Eat lots of vegetables and yoghurt.  We ate lots of veggies, and I made delicious yoghurt.  A dear friend is planning to give me some kefir starter, so that will be our new food adventure.

Rest daily. Yes, and did I ever sleep!  It was wonderful!

If you want to join Fit Mommies, just visit Denise at Got Chai?  As you can tell from my posts, you don?t need to be very active or healthy to participate, although some of the Fit Mommies are.

Sounds like you did pretty good!
I would love to learn to make my own yogurt.

Making your own yoghurt isn’t too difficult. I’ve had some issues lately with starters that didn’t work, and with milk that didn’t work, but now things work again. If you’re interested I could post about it sometime.
