Fit Mommy Friday

Some weeks are for serious exercise, and some are not.  This was a ‘not’ week.  My main exercise was doing housework and running around looking for books.  Vacuuming is still too much of a work-out for me, but I can sweep, scrub walls, mash potatoes, and go up and down the stairs as much as I like.  I’m so thankful to be able to do this much.  It’s such a far cry from the worst days when I needed to rest each time after bringing my fork to my mouth.  God is truly very good to me.

Here is how I’ve met—or not—my goals this week.

Average at least 6000 steps, five days a week. No, not at all.  The good news is that I’m feeling ready to focus on walking again, and I may start next week.

Do my physio exercises regularly. I did them four times this week.  I’ve got to be careful to breathe regularly even when the exercises are difficult for me.  Once when I forgot to breathe, my nose started to bleed.

Avoid sugar six days a week.  Most of the time I avoided sugar, but not six days a week.

Eat lots of vegetables and yoghurt.  Drink kefir. I’ve been enjoying raw veggies in the evenings, and we’ve all enjoyed the yoghurt.  I’m the only one enjoying kefir.  When the house was full of skunk smell (and the dogs were cooling off their aching noses in the snow), I almost threw the day’s batch of kefir down the sink.  Mixing skunk odor with kefir’s slightly weird taste was almost too much even for my frugal nature.

Rest daily. In One Thousand Gifts, Ann Voskamp suggests that hurrying is the mark of someone who’s an amateur at living.  That is either a profound thought or a very foolish one.  While peacefully waking up from my afternoon nap, refreshed and ready to face the next eight hours, I suspect that she may be right.  Someday I will buy that book so I can finish it and start rereading it.

How about you?  Did you have a fit week?

If you want to join Fit Mommies, just visit Denise at Got Chai? As you can tell from my posts, you don’t need to be very active or healthy to participate, although some of the Fit Mommies are.

I really do need to get more rest, but I need to get to bed earlier, and try to to be so tired in the day that all I do is rest.

I know how you feel about the exercise. It sounds like you are doing well in some of the other areas though. Eating more veggies is always a good thing. My hubby likes kefir but he is the only one in the family that likes it. I too need more rest and have been trying to get to bed by 10pm each night. Sometimes I am successful and sometimes not. 🙂 Have a great week.

Oh, man, the skunk smell! Our dog did that once, yuck! It sounds like you are getting stronger. I am looking forward to taking walks outside again also.

While I can’t say I’ve had the best week, it is far better than in days gone by. I just need to break free of my new ‘rut’ now.

Hoping that next week will be better for you.

Sorry to hear this week has been a rough one for you.

The comment at the end of your post was very thought-provoking.

I’m sorry I gave the wrong impression. It wasn’t a rough week; I just didn’t feel up to exercising. That will change. 🙂
