Fit Mommy Friday

I’ve discovered that just counting on everyday outdoor life for exercise only works if I’m busy outside. (Who would have thought of that?)  But when we have a rainy day, or when I’m inside planning schoolwork or organizing the house, I need more structure and accountability.  Once our school begins, such structure will be very important.

In the meantime, on warm days we play in the pool.  I sure get a heavy workout playing ‘monkey in the middle’ and Marco Polo with the children!  Too bad the nights are getting colder and colder.

Here’s how I measured up to my goals this week:

Do my eye exercises 3x a day …  No.  I’m still hoping that less reading and more outside time will help.

Go for a walk at least once a day … Besides scurrying around our property or hurrying through grocery stores, I only went walking once.  And that was because Miss 8 asked to go for a walk.  Hmm.  Perhaps she can be my walking ‘conscience.’

Do calisthenics at least 3 times a week … I do some while supervising the children in the pool, while waiting for something to cook, and so on.  Since I now have to use an exercise ball and a resistance band for my physio exercises, more structure is needed here, too.

Avoid sugar six days a week …  Funny, but I have absolutely no interest in sweets these days.  Perhaps it’s because of all the plums and apples we’ve been eating, which are sweet enough themselves.

Eat lots of vegetables and yoghurt…Yes, yoghurt making has been very successful.  We’ve discovered that cucumbers are like crunchy water or edible water bottles.  And the garden is producing so much yummy food!

Rest daily, and do more fun things with the kids … No, I no longer take afternoon naps.  Perhaps this is good, perhaps it is bad; we’ll see how things work out once our school year starts.  As for fun things with the kids: we played in the pool, walked, visited the goldfinch nest, read aloud, attended a festival, watched Emma, and more.

How about you?  Did you exercise, eat well, and relax happily this week?

Another Fit Mommy to visit is Jenn, who posts daily about her journey back to fitness at Back on Track.  Mary at Mary’s Little Corner is also journeying back to health.  Stacy loves the Wii and has had great success with it.

Unfortunately, Mrs. White of The Legacy of Home has serious computer problems and is no longer able to host the Healthy Home Link Up.

Sounds like a great week. I do exercise, usually by walking or biking until it gets too cold, then I do DVD’s or Wii Fit. Right now I’m still enjoying the outdoors. 🙂

I love outdoor exercise, but I don’t have a good plan for inside in the winter. I don’t own any exercise DVD’s yet because most of them are still too strenuous for me. With proper footwear, I should be able to walk comfortably for a few more months. 🙂

  2. I need to get back to walking. I strained my knee late last week, so I’ve been waiting for it to feel better. I think avoiding sugar six days a week would really help me.

Avoiding sugar is huge for me, and I think it would benefit many.

I love weeks like this when you gain insight! And I think you did. 🙂 I am not sure that I am going to do a weekly update, since I am doing day by day ones. I need to think about it.

Yes, I’ve gained insight. Now all I need to do is act on it!

I love your daily posts; no need for anything weekly. I just check up on you weekly! 🙂
