Review: Remembering You by Tricia Goyer

Jilted by her fiancé and worried about her job, Ava Ellington picked up the phone only to find out that she needed to take 84 year old Grandpa Jack to Europe for a reunion and a tour of World War 2 battle sites.  However, rather than hurting her precarious job as a TV producer, this trip promised to be a career-saving opportunity to film veterans confronting the past.

The only trouble was that Grandpa Jack did not appreciate Ava’s plans to film his trip.  When the official tour was cancelled, Grandpa Jack and his best friend Grand-Paul set out to visit old battle locations, taking along Ava and Dennis, Grand-Paul’s grandson.  While both grandfathers seemed intent on resurrecting an old romance between Ava and Dennis, Dennis thought the worst of Ava. He glowered each time he suspected her of using Grandpa Jack to further her career.

In this gripping book, Grandpa Jack confronted haunting memories while Ava learned to understand pain, forgiveness, the expectations she placed on others, and the importance of living  for God.

Fast-paced, yet emotional and thoughtful, Remembering You by Tricia Goyer is a special way to focus on the heroes who fought for our freedom. Realizing that this book is based on real life stories makes it even more poignant.
