Fit Mommy Friday: Time to Rest

encouraging each other to care well for the bodies God has given us

My personal goal is to regain strength after a debilitating illness so that I can live a healthy, active life with my family.

Whatever your fitness goal, please feel free to join Fit Mommy any time.

Well, I was almost back to ‘normal’ after a few tough weeks, although I did pull a few too many big weeds.

Then one of the girls, after getting blood work done to determine the cause of recurrent dizziness, was so lightheaded that she slumped onto the sidewalk while walking to the van.  I left the other girls to care for her, with instructions to let no one call an ambulance, and ran off to get the van.  She’s OK, but I’m facing the reality of having over-exerted myself once again.  But it was such a joy, running for those few minutes!

My main goal for the next week is to recover completely.  And that means rest, rest, rest.  It’s a good thing there’s a lot to read and a lot of homeschool prep work to do!

Here’s how I did with my specific fitness goals this week.

Record my fitness accomplishments each day… Yes.

Do 10 repetitions of my eye exercises 5 days a week and relax my eyes …Twice.

Go for a daily walk and average 7500 steps a day … No.  The chest discomfort after that little run kept me pretty quiet!  Here are my steps totals for the week:  7600, 5500, 6000, 6400, 3000, 2500, for an average of 5100.

Have good posture and do core strengthening exercises while walking… Still working on it.

Do 4 reps of my physio exercises 6 times a week… I did this twice.

Be usefully active for 1 to 2 hours a day, 6 days a week, without overdoing it … No.  The kids are still hanging up the laundry, scrubbing potatoes, etc.

Avoid sugar five days a week … Yes.

Eat lots of vegetables, including fresh ones, and yoghurt … Yes, especially fresh beans, purslane, chard, and corn, but no yoghurt.

Prepare and eat one fermented food a week… No.  I’m continuing to focus on fresh veggies.

Relax daily…Yes.

Cut something out of my schedule…For now, I’m cutting out exercise and focussing on doing sit-down jobs and eating well.

Have fun with the kids, including active fun…We swam, had company, read aloud, and ate popsicles.  All except Miss 9 worked this week, so we had much less time together.

How about you? Did you exercise, eat well, and relax happily this week?

Oh dear, that’s concerning. Did the blood work show why she is dizzy? You are wise to rest, but I know it is not easy.

No results on the bloodwork yet, but the heat is one factor.

As for resting, I’ve been using the time to order homeschool books. And I got 4 review products in the mail this week, so there’s a lot of sitting-down activity as well. So it’s hard in one sense, but God has given me enough other things to do. 🙂

I hope you and your daughter are feeling better! A week of rest and eating well sounds perfect.

So sorry about your daughter. I hope you get some answers soon. Sarah fainted on me once in the morning, and can get light headed sometimes. Our doctor said she is just too skinny, not enough body fat on her so she needs to eat first thing in the morning, and not let herself get too hungry throughout the day. That has helped a lot.

I got my Fit Mommy Friday done today, Saturday. 🙂 http://wgcreates.com/josjourney/fit-mommy-friday-on-saturday/

      Thanks, Briana!

JoAnn, that’s good to know. I’d suspected that she got more dizzy when she was hungry, but now I’ll really explore that some more. Thank you.
