Let’s Play Tag

My friend Kristen tagged me and wanted me to answer these questions:

Do you have any special Christmas goodies that you like to make every year?

Peppernuts, a traditional Dutch (and German, I think) spicy cookie that is so tiny it’s like a nut.  The girls have figured out how to make them gluten-free.

Do you send Christmas cards? Photo? Letter?

We used to send cards with letters before I got sick.  While I was sick we sent a few cards with a few notes inside.  This year, I hope to send a photo, and I’m glad Kristen asked, because I would have forgotten to prepare for that.

Do you have a favorite Christmas or birthday gift that you received as a child?

Yes, a Bobbsey twin trilogy.  Or perhaps it was the globe. Or maybe the brown paper lunch bag of candies and nuts we got every year after our church Christmas concert.

What was your favorite subject in school? Is it your favorite to teach?

All my subjects were my favorite.  I loved learning and still do.  Although I have no favorites to teach, I do have two subjects I detest teaching:  phonics and spelling.

Are you a morning person or a night person?

Totally morning!  If I’m in bed at 7:00 AM, that’s sleeping in.  Some nights, though, I wish I were a night person, especially when I am reading a good book.

What is one thing you wish you had more time to do?

Go on nature walks.  Other things I want to do more of:  Read aloud to the kids.  Eat Miss 12’s cookies.  Cook.  Visit family and friends.  Clean, paint, and decorate my house.  Read.  Blog.  Relearn math and quantum mechanics.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Banana ice cream, made out of frozen bananas, vanilla, and cream.

Do you make your bed every day?

Yes, but not right when I get up because my husband is not a morning person.  And if I don’t go back upstairs until noon, then I don’t make the bed until noon.  I’d never climb the stairs just for that!

I wonder what Tina, Lori, Sarah, and Kym will say.

What would your answers be?
