In my life this week … The whole house is being reorganized now that I have a modern laptop. I used to use two computers simultaneously because they were so old and slow, and these two now belong to our three youngest girls. It’s so exciting for everyone! Note that our computers are not used for games, but for e-books, audiobooks, Seterra, learning Word and PowerPoint, and writing. Lots and lots of writing.
The kids went through their clothing boxes in preparation for the fall. What a joy to have older kids who don’t need me to help every step of the way!
Our tomatoes have blossom end rot, due in part to the very dry weather. Since it seems as though we’ll lose a good portion of the crop, we actually bought three bushels on special and plan to freeze them on Saturday.
In our homeschool this week … The planning is finished! Miss 8 will be doing Ambleside Online Year 1 with a few tweaks and additions. Miss 11 will be doing a very modified Year 5, with some of the earlier year’s selections added in. Miss 13 and Mr. 16 will be doing all sorts of individualized work. It’s too long to share here, but I hope to put up a page with our curriculum for those who are interested.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing … We had a much more peaceful week, which we really needed. We didn’t really go anywhere, except on walks and peaceful bike rides, and we didn’t really see anyone except librarians, storekeepers, neighbors, and some friends. The quiet week was rejuvenating.
My favorite things this week were … Finishing the homeschool planning. What a relief that was! It was like sunshine and parties and laugher all at once. May God bless all the hard work we homeschooling moms do, and may He be glorified by it.
What’s working/not working for us … Drought does not work for us. Buying 3 bushels of tomatoes on sale does.
Homeschool questions/thoughts I have … Will it actually work out? We plan to start school on Monday, and I’m so curious to see how our first week will go. Probably I’m even a bit anxious. But God will help us do what He wants us to do. What a comfort that is!

Congrats on getting your planning finished. I’m so behind on planning because we’ve just had so much going on this summer. I’ve decided we can’t wait any longer and we’re just going to go ahead and jump in Monday anyway and hope for the best. Hope you have a great first week.

Oh a new laptop, how fun. My new one comes in Tuesday, but I already gave my kids the old one. It’s now in my oldest’s room, and she’s enjoying that so much. 🙂

Planning is such work, but it sure pays off later!!!
My tomatoes have an issue – I don’t know what it is. Some get brown spots on them, but some are fine.
