Fit Mommy Friday: Thanksgiving

encouraging each other

to care well

for the bodies God has given us

Welcome to the Health and Fitness Check-In column of The Christian Home Carnival, posted weekly. For encouragement and accountability, you can check in using the comments at the bottom of this post. Please feel free to join any time, and at whatever level of fitness and health you currently have.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the US!  May you enjoy a happy day with friends and family, giving thanks to God for all His goodness, both spiritual and physical.

During celebrations, moderation is the key:  moderation in eating as well as moderation in sticking to food and exercise goals.   We’re entering our family’s celebration season:  SinterKlaas, birthdays, Christmas, New Year’s…and I’ll be trying to remember that, too.

I’m feeling much better than last week, after my foolishness a few weeks ago, and have begun my usual exercising again.

Record my fitness accomplishments each day… Yes.

Do my eye exercises 3x a week … No.

Go for a daily walk and take at least 6000 steps a day … I did not yet go for outdoor walks, fearing I would run out of steam a ways from home.  Now I’m ready to try walking outside again since my inside walking is more energetic.  (5300, 5200, 5200, 5700, 6000)

Do my physio exercises daily and slowly build up to half the program by December 31 … I’ve started them again and it’s going well, although doing anything with my neck is causing problems again.

Avoid sugar five days a week … No.

Eat lots of vegetables, including fresh ones, and yoghurt … Yes, we’re doing that again!

Relax daily…  Yes, and it helped when I felt very stressed about all that needed doing.

Have fun with the kids, including active fun… No active fun, but we read a lot about kids exploring and having a wonderful time in our latest Arthur Ransome read aloud.  Vicarious activity isn’t healthier in itself, but it is inspiring.

How about you? Did you exercise, eat well, and relax happily this week? Let’s encourage each other to care well for the bodies God has given us. Please link up your health and fitness post in the comments below, and don`t forget to link back here from your post. Then enjoy visiting and encouraging other Fit Mommies just like you.

You are right, moderation is the key. I did ok on Thanksgiving day, and I’m going to try and remember moderation with all the leftovers too. 🙂

Good job. Yes, those left-overs can be a problem!

Yes, moderation is so needed! I think I did fine. I kept to my exercise goals, mostly. I took an extra day off, but I was up on my feet the whole day cooking, cleaning, moving furniture. I am sure I did more than I would in a 30 minute work out routine! I hope you have a great rest of your weekend. Thank you for always being so encouraging to me and others as well!

Working is every bit as good as ‘formal’ exercise. God created us to work, not to do the Wii or go to the gym. 🙂

  4. Annie Kate, I would love that… to perhaps use your photo. I’m sure the book has been very loved and it will lend a warm and cozy touch 🙂 Blessings!
