Fit Mommy Friday: A New Approach

encouraging each other to care well for the bodies God has given us

by being active, eating wisely, and relaxing adequately

I’m trying an experiment.  For years I’ve been careful to keep track of how much I exercise to ensure that I’m doing enough while not doing too much.

However, being without a functioning pedometer is giving me a chance just to go with the flow and keep active without recording many numbers.  That’s hard for a geeky person to do, but I’ll try it for a few weeks.

From Friday to Monday I was not feeling well and did very little exercise.  The arrival of spring must have banished the germs, though, because now we’re all feeling much better.

On Monday Miss 10 begged me to go for a little walk, so I did.  She was good motivation.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Little Misses and I wandered through the woods for a long time and I started cleaning up the flower beds.  In the evening, Miss 10 and I removed most the straw mulch from the garlic but some was frozen, so we left it, not wanting to hurt the baby garlic plants.  I also did my favorite physio exercises, the ones using a beautiful yellow theraband

Wednesday we did groceries and I cleaned out some heavy drawers to catch up on our 15 minutes a day of spring cleaning. I also did the theraband physio exercises.

Thursday I cleaned up most of the flower beds, which also involved a bit of walking around the yard.  I scrubbed a cupboard, hurried up and down the stairs a lot, and did my favorite physio exercises again.

As for food:  We ate some yoghurt, but not much.  We avoided sugar quite consistently and had good breakfasts.  And we had one amazing food day:  a second breakfast—hobbit style—with strawberry shortcake and orange juice with club soda, and later in the day a massive salad, onion soup, and trifle.

Did I relax? Yes, I napped, read, gardened, and wandered around aimlessly in the nice weather.

Spring is so wonderful!  Finally there’s an opportunity to be active outdoors with the children, walking in the woods and cleaning up the yard.  Finally everyone is feeling better.

Sounds like a great week. I go back and forth from wanting to keep track of what I do, to it becomes a burden when I do. More often it’s a burden. But I did exercise 3 times this week, I’m pretty happy with that. 🙂

Thanks, Briana. I’ll enjoy the garden whenever it’s not raining (or snowing). Your baby is so cute!

Great job, JoAnn. Exercising 3x a week is a great accomplishment.

Welcome back, Rebecca! Here’s to fitness!
