I was first introduced to The Handbook of Nature Study when I learned about Charlotte Mason’s philosophy.  It’s a huge, information-packed book and can be used for years, either as a curriculum or as reference material.  Besides scientific knowledge, the book includes bits of history, poetry, and fun.  It is, to my knowledge, the best living book available for nature study.

This week The Handbook of Nature Study is available as a free download from Homeschool Freebie of the Day.  Since it’s so huge, a different part of the book will available each day of the week.  (If the above link gets too busy, try this one.)
