Being organized can involve a lot of paperwork. If you use tiny bits of paper to arrange your life and leave them lying all over, you’ll soon be in trouble. On the other hand, using some form of planner is a simple way to bring order into your days.
Of course, it is possible to buy planners. Personal and household ones are available every where, and homeschool planners are easy to buy online.
Or you can download Donna Young’s planning pages for free, print them, and insert them in a binder yourself, making your own custom planner with everything you need and nothing you don’t.
General and Household:
I use three of Donna Young’s calendar pages. A two-page monthly planning calendar goes into my planning binder, and a horizontal one-page calendar hangs on the fridge bulletin board. Of course, in the front of my planning binder, right after the homeschool phone list, I have a 12-month calendar as well.
Besides a wide array of calendars and planning pages, Donna Young also provides all sorts of menu planners and kitchen lists, chore charts, and even a purse-sized booklet. I haven’t used those.
Homeschool:
Here’s where Donna Young really shines. She has schedules, articles, lesson plans, reviews, templates for various subjects, and so much more. There are also an extensive arts and crafts section; handwriting sheets, including copywork; schedules and bookmarks for Streams of Civilization 1 and 2; math charts; detailed schedules for many Apologia science courses; administrative and planning forms; and more.
To see all that is available, you’ll really have to explore the website. It can be difficult to find everything, though. For example, I’d never known about the interactive grades and attendance record until JoAnn mentioned it. It’s probably best to look at the site index and allow yourself lots of time to explore.
Of course, you can make all of these forms yourself, but if they’re available for free, why bother? Using Donna Young’s forms works for us.
