Fit Mommy Friday

The pace of life seems to be increasing.  Today I?m planning to pick up the van, which was in the shop all week, buy some groceries, and walk the Rideau Trail besides doing my ordinary homeschooling and homemaking work.  Although I am mostly well now, days like this can wear me out, and I?ll need to make a special effort to rest.   My family needs a healthy, happy mom more than they need lots of things done.

Average at least 6000 steps, five days a week.  This week I managed about 5500 steps a day for five days.  Surprisingly, I needed to go for a walk almost every day to get those steps.  Of course, I enjoyed the time outside walking with others and with our three dogs.

Do my physio exercises regularly.  It seems I have a motivation or organization problem with the physio exercises.  I just don?t seem to get around to doing them. That may be because walking the 6000 steps, homeschooling, running the house, and managing miscellaneous responsibilities take up most of my time and thoughts.

Avoid sugar six days a week.   Well, we had birthday cake, peanut butter balls, and peanut butter cookies, all of which were very sweet and delicious.  The peanut butter balls were great at keeping my energy levels up, but they are probably too calorie-rich for everyday consumption.

Eat lots of vegetables and yoghurt.  We had no yoghurt, but lots of vegetables.  In fact, yesterday?s supper was an enormous green salad with chunks of chicken breast in it.  Yum!

Rest daily. Yes, and I needed it, too.

If you want to join Fit Mommies, just visit Denise at Got Chai?  As you can tell from my posts, you don?t need to be very active or healthy to participate, although some of the Fit Mommies are.

Pretty good week! You’ll get to those exercises just keep trying.

OK, so no physio exercises = but wow, you had some definite successes in other areas. I’m really working on pushing those veggies too – especially raw ones.
    Keep up the effort!

Raw veggies are such a good idea! I bought lots of celery and it’s a refreshing thing to eat.

I’m not at all suprised to read you need to get outdoors for a walk each day in order to get to 6000 daily steps. On an ‘in house’ day I can walk less than 2000 steps.
You are certainly doing a lot better than when I first used to read your blog, fitness wise. Well done!

Thank you, Sarah! Yes, in-house days are bad for us moms, I think. People say that 10,000 steps is what an average adult should walk in a day! That is so amazing, but it’s a good reason to do nature walks with the kids.
