Fit Mommy Friday

My vision has been deteriorating rapidly in the past few months.  When, one day last week, I actually had to lean forward to read the organ music I was playing, I panicked and made a rush appointment with my optometrist.

She was reassuring.  Rapid worsening of ones eyes is not common, but it’s not uncommon either.  Although she gave me a new prescription for glasses, she told me not to buy the new glasses until I’d had some blood work done…and she gave me a few eye exercises to do.  Now my list of exercise goals will also include eye exercises.

So here’s how I did with my goals this week:

Do my eye exercises 3x a day…  No.  But I have started learning to do them.

Go for a walk at least once a day… No.   Most days I gardened instead, and it was blissful.  Last night, when Mr. 16 was walking home from judo, I did walk to meet him.  Black flies don’t bite in the dark, and the mosquitoes are not yet out, so it was a very pleasant walk.

Do calisthenics at least 3 times a week… I gardened instead.  And I played organ, which is still exercise for me, although it is no longer strenuous.

Avoid sugar six days a week … Yes, until the double chocolate cookies were baked.  The next day I enjoyed a lot of cold, crisp, super-sweet watermelon.  Yum!  Both times I felt pretty yucky afterwards.  Another lesson learned.  Again.  For this year at least.

Eat lots of vegetables and yoghurt…Yes to both of those.

Rest daily, and do more fun things with the kids… All that outside air is great for sleeping, and early morning sunshine is great for waking the children up early.  What a difference it makes to start the day early!  We spent a lot of quality garden time together, working, playing, chatting, and marveling at different plants, bugs, frogs, and birds.

How about you?  Did you exercise, eat well, and relax happily this week?
