Fit Mommy Friday

This was a short week.  It only seemed a few days long, and I?m not sure what we missed.  Sigh.  But life goes on, and I did meet some of my fitness goals.

Average at least 6000 steps, five days a week.    At first I wasn?t sure that I could meet this goal, but yesterday?s 13,000 steps (Rideau Trail walk) will have made up for any low-step days.  Monday, after a long walk with the dogs, I noticed my new pedometer hanging on its safety clip, rather than properly clipped to my waist.  I?m so thankful for that safety clip!

Do my physio exercises regularly.  No.  There has just been too much going on.  I?ve got to finish the big high school record project, and then I?ll be able to focus on other things again.  On the other hand, I did play the organ after supper several times.  That is good upper body exercise for me; I am not yet strong enough to play the pedals, though.

Avoid sugar six days a week.   That tired flu bug has still been bothering our family.  It?s funny how little we crave sweets when we?re not feeling too great.  So this goal was met.

Eat lots of vegetables and yoghurt.   Yes.  In fact, yesterday for supper we ate only a salad, but it was such a huge one, dotted with bits of chicken breast, that everyone was completely satisfied.  Our new yoghurt starter doesn?t thicken very quickly, so we haven?t had as much yoghurt as usual, but what we?ve had has been very good and thick.

Rest daily.   This did not work out every day.  Missing that nap really drags me down!  Playing the organ, however, is quite restful.  Although it?s not as good as sleep, it is a helpful substitute when it?s too late in the day for napping.

If you want to join Fit Mommies, just visit Denise at Got Chai?  As you can tell from my posts, you don?t need to be very active or healthy to participate, although some of the Fit Mommies are.

I am sorry to hear you’ve been struck by the flu bug, too. It is still amazing how much you did do.

I hope you feel better soon. It is hard to be sick and not have the usual amount of energy. Get lots of rest.

I’m sorry you’ve been feeling unwell this week. I’ve had two children with runny noses and coughs, and simply taking care of them has drained my own energy this week. I’m glad you were able to get that walk in–and at least those cravings haven’t been getting you to eat much sugar.

I hope everyone is feeling better soon. It’s so hard to take care of yourself and your family when you are sick!
Still, it sounds like you had a pretty good week!

  6. It seems like everyone has been sick lately. Darn winter! Glad you sound like you are better. I am assuming you are since you went on a hike! CONGRATS!

  7. Praying that the illness will leave your household soon. My daughter has been sick for 2 weeks. It makes things a bit more difficult.

I really need to start making our own yogurt. We go through quite a bit, but I would prefer to have more control over the ingredients.

    Have a nice weekend!

  8. Get better qucik and you have amazing progress~KEEP GOING GIRL! whoot!

Thanks for all your well wishes, ladies. You’re awesome!

Just to clarify. We are not very sick, for which I am grateful. No one has to stay in bed all day or is vomiting. Every day, though, people are complaining of being too tired, sniffly, headachey, and having scratchy throats, and sometimes I feel queasy. Taking extra vitamins makes us feel less sick than our friends with strep throat and stay-in-bed flus, but we do drag for a week or two.

    Blessings,

    Annie Kate

    Being outside really helps, though!

Hello! I hope your family is feeling much better today.

It sounds like you still had a very productive week in spite of the bug.

I’m thinking perhaps I need to join this meme, now that I’m learning not to be such a couch potato! It might help motivate me even more. I’m currently trying to cut back on the sugar intake too. It seems the more I exercise, the less I want unhealthy food.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Yes, I’m feeling much better. I put an extra blanket on my bed for my nap this afternoon and it was blissful. I also decided to take the afternoon off and not do any more record-keeping catching up. Yippee!

Sounds like you had a productive week even though it was short. Resting daily is definitely a plus in my days any time I can get it.
