I play organ. Not very well or very often, but I do enjoy it hugely.
For most of my adult life I’ve thought vaguely of owning Bach’s Eight Little Preludes and Fugues for Organ. When I was still taking lessons, I memorized some of them, but I never did learn them all….and this summer, relearning the easiest four is one of my dreams.
Buying the music seemed like an expensive luxury, though. Then a friend of mine told me about the Werner Icking Music Archive. And, sure enough, there were the Eight Little Preludes and Fugues for Organ, free!
If you’re a classical musician of any sort, do visit the Werner Icking Music Archive. There’s an incredible selection of sheet music, downloadable without charge. Enjoy!
If you want to hear what I’m hoping to master this summer, or if you just want to listen to some great organ music, check out these YouTube recordings (BWV 553-560). As you can tell, I’m dreaming big. Very, very big. I certainly will not be playing as in the recordings (in fact, they sound a bit rushed to me)…but I’ll be working on it, and having a great time doing so.
It’s better to aim high and miss, than not to aim at all, right?

Dream away, my friend! If you make the time, it will happen. Of that I am certain! 🙂
You’re right, if I make the time. It’s on my daily list of things to do, but I’ve been ignoring it the last few days. I WILL make more time, though.
Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I can’t wait to go check it out. (I play piano . . . infrequently and poorly right now, but I have dreams too!)
Dreams are good!
