It’s Reformation Day and some ministries are offering free resources to help you learn more about the ideas of two of the major reformers, Luther and Calvin. Although I have had no time to examine these resources, both Ligonier and Crossway produce consistently excellent materials, and John Piper is always good, too.
1. The Ligonier Ministries website introduces their freebie this way:
Many people are unaware of the events of Martin Luther’s life that led him to make a courageous stand for the gospel in the sixteenth century. In celebration of Reformation Day, we are offering the downloadable edition of R.C. Sproul’s recently released ten-part series, Luther and the Reformation, for free. This series introduces the life and thought of Luther while exploring the lessons we can learn today.
2. Crossway Books has this to say about its free ebook (good only to the end of October 31):
In celebration of Reformation Day, we’d like to share The Joy of Calvinism with you. In his book, Greg Forster encourages Calvinists and non-Calvinists alike to know God’s personal, unconditional, irresistible, and unbreakable love.
3. John Piper offers a video biography of John Calvin, filmed in Geneva.
Enjoy, and spread the word!
