Fit Mommy Friday

This has been a busy week, preparing for weekend visitors and a big celebration at church, while trying to keep up with the homeschooling and preparing to plant the garden.

As far as exercise goes, I only went for one walk. I did, however, spend a lot of time scurrying to and fro…and I’m OK! (Grateful smiles.)  I also spent a lot of time on my hands and knees in the garden getting rid of tiny weeds while the children did tough jobs like working on the compost pile, mowing the lawn, mucking out the chicken coop, and pulling old broccoli and kale stalks.  Hopefully I’ve got enough of the wee weeds that no one will have to be cajoled into pulling big ones later on.  After all that gardening I was sore, but neither tired nor weak.  I’m daring to hope that whatever has been plaguing me for years is gone, and that I will be able to slowly build up strength and live a normal life again.

Nutrition has been yummy.  Gluten-free black forest cake on the weekend.  Gluten-free brownies during the week.  V8, which I’m not really supposed to have.  The only thing that made me feel weak and exhausted was our homemade, home-grown, organic frozen tomato juice!  I don’t understand that at all, but I’ll take chocolate over tomato juice any day.  (Smiles.) As for veggies, yes, we ate a lot of them this week, including green onions and Jerusalem artichokes from the garden.

Besides my compulsory afternoon naps, I rested and relaxed while gardening.  It’s so wonderful to be outdoors, smell the fresh air, and enjoy the spring flowers.

Life was almost normal this week, thanks largely due to my wonderful husband and children who do enormous amounts of work behind the scenes.  I even went clothes shopping with my two oldest girls, something that’s not been possible for years!
