Goal-Setting with Money Saving Mom

Recently I posted about a free download of chapter 7 of The Money Saving Mom’s Budget by Crystal Paine.

This week Crystal shared more from her book: she put an audio version of chapter one about goal-setting on YouTube.  It’s great, and you’ll want to listen to it to learn how to set goals for your life.

Your see, goal setting is a crucial element of success in any endeavor, but most of us do not know how to set goals effectively.

For example, we might have a goal to save money or to lose weight, but those goals are not going to be very effective unless they are

  • made more specific,
  • broken down into bite-sized pieces, and
  • remembered.

Crystal and her husband have accomplished some major goals, so she knows what she is talking about.  In 25 minutes she helped me realize that my health and fitness goals need some serious reworking, and that I should set goals for finances and maybe even for this blog.

To learn to be more effective, and teach your children about goal-setting, do listen to this chapter from The Money Saving Mom’s Budget.  It’s an excellent, free resource.

What are your goals?

      You’re welcome!

  2. This would have helped me so much when we were first married…where were you then, Annie? I did learn, and now the kids are far better at goal setting than me 🙂

    1. Annie Kate says:

I know, there are so many things I wish I’d known earlier. We just have to keep on working with what we’re given each day.

I’m glad you and your kids learned. It’s a valuable skill.

I’ve read Crystal’s book and it’s very informative and helpful. Our current financial goals are paying down our house and saving for a new-to-us car.

    Have a great day!

Great goals, Tracey! Go for it!

  4. I had no idea she had the recording up from chapter 1! Thanks for the info.
Right now we’re saving up for a new-to-us couch, and I have some blogging goals to accomplish this week. I try to make at least one each week then meet with a blogging group to keep accountable.

Thanks for spreading the word about the audio chapter! We’re very excited about this title, and hopeful that a lot of people will benefit from it.

  6. Ohh I’m so bad at goal setting! At least long-term goals! I can make a list of things I want to accomplish a particular day… I’ve been following Crystal’s posts too. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for linking up to NOBH!
