Remembrance Day

My parents were little children in the Netherlands during World War II, and they were freed by Canadians.  I am humbly grateful to Canadian veterans and thankful to be a citizen this great country.  As it is Remembrance Day, I want to share two verses of ‘O Canada.’  The first one is the official anthem; the second is the final verse of the original poem.

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North, strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free !
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our dominion whithin thy loving care;
Help us to find, O God, in thee
A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the Better Day,
We ever stand on guard.

God keep our land glorious and free !
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
