Fit Mommy Friday

This has been a great week, and I’m feeling fitter and fitter.  That is such a miracle!  Here’s how this week’s goals went:

Walk about 10,000 steps a day.  Probably closer to 8000 a day, but that’s not too bad.  I’ve also gardened, dejunked, and canoed.  Yes, I actually picked up a paddle and had the strength to use it!!   When a canoe tipped over, I had the strength to pull Miss 7 over with my paddle, and haul her into our canoe. I also had the energy to keep going around and around and around the other shipwrecked child and her capsized canoe although I couldn’t steer my canoe well enough to actually reach her. Poor child!  But both of them had life jackets, and the abler members of our family came racing from shore to rescue us.

Do the physiotherapist’s exercises every day. Well, almost every day, and they’re starting to fit into my life.  I’ve done them in the kitchen, waiting at the stove; in a parking lot after a picnic; and in front of a mirror, as I’m supposed to.

Avoid sweets and eat more yoghurt.  No baked sweets, too much watermelon, yummy sugar-free banana muffins, and no yoghurt.  Hmm!  It’s time to start making yoghurt again.

Catch up enough to be able to relax.  Yes, we dejunked a bit, I got my homeschool order sent off, and the garden is mostly under control.  Anyone want five gallons of elderberries?  We have way too many.  Although I’m not losing any sleep over them, it’s a shame to waste them.

Get over a bug.  Our whole family feels well now…as far as I can tell, since one of the children is at work, and another is off visiting our friend.  Good health is a great blessing!

Goals for next week:

  • Walk 10,000 steps a day, and take a walk in the evening if necessary to reach that goal…but only if I’m not tired.
  • Do the physiotherapist’s exercises every day.
  • Make and eat yoghurt, cut down on watermelon consumption, and avoid other sweets.
  • Try to figure out why my fingers, wrists, and ankles ache intermittently.  It may be food-related.
  • Skip no afternoon rests; if I feel very energetic I’ll still lie down but only for a little while.

If you want some fitness accountability, join Fit Mommy Friday at Got Chai?  As you can tell from my posts, you don’t need to be very active or healthy to participate, although some of the Fit Mommies are.

Sounds like you are staying busy walking around and canoeing.

I just wanted to let you know I left a response to your comment on my blog…just in case you don’t see it.

I miss yogurt. But the benefits of not eating raw makes it worth it. The only time anyone in my family has been sick since we switch our diets is when we go off the diet and eat something different. But the benefits have been great. You can see all the benefits on my website on this post entry: http://fosteringmyfamily.wordpress.com/2010/06/13/big-changes-part-2-our-diet/
