A Whole Year of Fit Mommy

Here it is, the last day of the year!  When I joined Fit Mommy Friday  last January as a sick mommy, I had no idea how much it would impact my life.  Thank you, Denise, for hosting and for all your encouragement!  I?m a fitter person because of you.  And thank you, all my fellow Fit Mommies.  You have made the journey so much more fun!

Exercise:  This week I?ve gotten back into walking and am again doing over 6000 steps a day, which is my goal.

I also tried Leslie Sansone?s Walk Aerobics for Seniors, since that seemed to be at my level.  I moved about a third as fast as the seniors for only half the video ? and hurt my arm.  Humph!  Obviously I?ll need to focus on my physio exercises before doing anything meant for ordinary people.

To the children?s delight I sledded down the hill 1 ¼ times.  The first time I got a bit banged up, but the second time I was so frightened that I rolled off near the top of the (little) hill.  Now sledding is on my list of things to do once I?m flexible and have muscles again.

Food:  I?ve eaten almost no party snacks or baking, and have had lots of yoghurt and ground flaxseed.  The only thing I?m missing is lots of vegetables.

Rest:  Most days I?ve been able to take a nap.  That hour of resting, dozing, and sleeping makes such a difference for the rest of the day!

By the end of next year, I hope to be walking 10,000 steps a day, and to be able to swim, ski, sled, vacuum, scrub the walls, ?and maybe canoe.  What are your fitness goals for 2011?

If you want to join the Fit Mommies, just visit Denise at Got Chai?  As you can tell from my posts, you don?t need to be very active or healthy to participate, although some of the Fit Mommies are.

Well done! I’ve just been given a step counter for Christmas and am hoping to be improving my count through the year. As it’s dreadful at the moment, I’m thinking it won’t be too hard at least to begin with!
    Happy New Year!

Great job! I am hoping to use my Wii a lot this year to get me up and moving more so that my muscles aren’t so stiff and sore all the time.
