Lily Winter, widowed and lonely now that her daughter Julie has gone off to college, tries to reconnect with her mother who never has wanted her around. As usual, the visit is a disaster, but Lily leaves with an astonishing piece of news: she has an identical twin sister, Camilla, in Australia!
So, naturally, Lily faces her fear of flying and jets out to Melbourne to find her sister. There she finds unexpected help from Marcus, a brazen Aussie, who turns out to be from Texas as well. What’s more, he has a surprising tie to Lily and her daughter from years ago. Marcus pursues Lily while Lily pursues Camilla, and together they turn Lily’s life upside down in this optimistic story of hope, reconciliation, and truth.
Although author Anita Higman uses unlikely events and coincidences liberally and her style is not as polished as some, this is a thought-provoking story. Winter in Full Bloom explores the ideas of love and forgiveness from many angles. It deals sensitively with dysfunctional families, and shares the hope that, with God’s blessing, trauma can be overcome and relationships can heal.
