Review: A Lancaster County Christmas

When she was at the doctor’s to renew her sleeping pill prescription, Jamie Fitzpatrick met bubbly Danny Riehl, an Amish six year old.   He and his dad were there with his mom, Mattie, who had recently miscarried the first baby she’d conceived since Danny’s birth.  When Danny forgot his handmade owl whistle at the office, the doctor convinced Jaime to drive it to his house, even though Christmas storms were forecast.

And that’s how it happened that Jamie and her husband missed a cruise with her confusing father, and instead were stranded in a snowstorm over Christmas with Mattie’s family and her rebellious young cousin Zach.

Though depressed, Mattie loved the Lord and people, even Zach who was rejected by his own family. On the other hand, her new friend Jamie, haunted by her past, was angry at God, her husband, and her father.

In this sweet compelling story, turmoil, disaster, and love all find their meaning in God.  A Lancaster County Christmas will warm your heart and remind you that God’s love is enough, whatever your circumstances.
