encouraging each other to care well for the bodies God has given us
My personal goal is to regain strength after a debilitating illness so that I can live a healthy, active life with my family.
Whatever your fitness goal, please feel free to join Fit Mommy any time.
Another week of harvest exercise! Here’s what I wrote about this week’s frosts and harvest and about harvest exercise itself…. And at the end of a busy day in the kitchen and garden, I would prop a book on the treadmill and start walking. This was probably the most physically active week I’ve had in years, and I feel great!
But I cannot write too much else now; there’s a mountain of chard to freeze, raspberries to pick, and in the middle of day, a second breakfast to enjoy: hobbit food, courtesy of Miss 14.
Here’s how my goals went this week:
Record my fitness accomplishments each day… Yes, but one set of notes were written on a scrap paper that got lost. I know it was a good walking day but cannot recall how good.
Do 10 repetitions of my eye exercises 5 days a week and relax my eyes whenever I think of it …3x.
Go for a daily walk and average 7500 steps a day … Here are my steps for the week: 8500, 8300, 8000, 8100, 8300 for a whopping average of 8200 steps a day! That’s the highest average I’ve recorded in 4 1/2 years, at least. Tentatively next week’s goal will be 8000 steps a day, but I’ll be careful not to push myself.
Have good posture and do core strengthening exercises while walking; sit straight at the computer… Oops! Forgot entirely!
Work on the Callanetics maintenance program… Once.
Be usefully active for 1 to 2 hours a day, 6 days a week, without overdoing it … I hung up laundry, harvested, shopped, and puttered around the house.
Avoid sugar five days a week … Yes. And I ate some cheese and had yeasty pizza dough. Aside from some gassiness, I feel OK, but I don’t dare make yeast and cheese a big part of my life again.
Eat lots of vegetables, including fresh ones, and yoghurt … Yes.
Prepare and eat one fermented or soaked food a week… A few breakfasts of soaked buckwheat groats.
Relax daily…Yes, except on salsa-making day.
Cut something out of my schedule… Well, homeschooling has suffered this week, but the kids seem happy and have learned a lot.
Have fun with the kids, including active fun…We harvested and read aloud.

Hooray!!! That’s a lot of work you’ve been doing. I am so glad to hear you are able to tackle the harvest and still feel like walking. Yay! Makes me want a treadmill. 🙂
I think you do want a treadmill. I know you’d use it and it would keep you exercising even when the weather is poor.
We got ours at half price in the summer. Even so it was wildly expensive since we got a very good one that my husband and son (both over 6 feet) will be able to use as well. Right now my husband and daughter use it regularly, so it’s been a good purchase for us, but we’re scrimping to balance the budget after that.
Perhaps you could find a second hand one on Kijiji or FreeCycle or something.
What a great week. Congrats on your new walking record.

Sounds like a great week overall. So glad you’ve been using your treadmill. I’ve been doing better this week. Really starting to watch my portion sizes again, and I’ve feeling better already. And I’ve been walking a bit again, that is really nice.
